Success stories

It makes us proud to share our success in achieving our objectives and transforming lives of many individuals during more than 2 decades of our dedicated presence in Mulshi & Marathwada. A few remarkable examples are enumerated here :-

1. Bhau Margale

Native of a small village ‘Vegre’ situated on mountain region with no access road, no electricity and scarce water resources, Bhau Margale is a product of our Hostel & Swami Vivekanand Vidyalaya (SVV). After completing Education he decided not to find a job for himself but devote entire life for his village. At the age of 28 he was elected as Sarpanch and based on his dedication & achievements he was selected as the “Adarsh Sarpanch’ of Mulshi Taluka. Through Government grants he has electrified the village using Solar Energy, constructed motor able road, supported Women Empowerment by convincing the villagers to transfer the Land Titles in Female family member’s names. Bhau Margale remains uncontested Sarpach since a decade and has several laurels to his credit.

2. Ajam Shaikh

Arriving from a small village ‘Bhare’ he landed in our Hostel & studied at SVV. Later he bagged Gold Medal in M.Sc and completed PhD in Organic Chemistry from Taiwan. After working in Japan for 5 years he returned back to Mulshi Taluka. Since then he is teaching in a local school. Ajam had several opportunities to stay abroad, move to USA but he was determined to return back to his roots & devote his life in educating village children.

3. Ramesh Admane

Belonging to a very poor family in a small village ‘Adgaon’, Ramesh’s mother used to feed the family working as a farm labourer. Ramesh enrolled in our Hostel & studied at SVV. After completing B.Sc. he got a job in a private company and started supporting his family. He was prompted to take up an opportunity offered by a NGO to start creative social work in a small village ‘Kaldev Nimbal’ in Latur District. Ramesh quit his job & despite resistance from friends & family he accepted this opportunity. Looking at the patheitic situation at his home RSGS started helping his household in cash & kind. When Ramesh discovered, he asked us to stop helping his mother & younger brother & said “Your help is diluting the sacrifice our family is making for the nation”.

4. Mahesh Mohol

Hailing from ‘Mutha’ village in mountain region with no electricity, water etc., Mahesh joined our Hostel & studied at SVV. After completing M.Sc., D.Ed instead of running to the city he decided to work at Swami Vivekanand Vidyalaya to show his gratitude. During that time RSGS discovered about 52 hamlets around Mountains encompassing Mulshi Dam. There was no Middle school and around 15 students had to stop education after 6th grade. They were admitted in SVV and with the help of Shileshwar Grampanchayat, RSGS obtained a temporary accommodation with no facilities. Mahesh offered his services as a Rector and left his home to stay with these 15 children. As gratitude he didn’t accept emolument for this service.

5. Santosh Keswad

Santosh belonged to a Farmer family from ‘Ghotawade’ village. He joined our Hostel & SVV. After completing ITI course he started working with a local Industry. Some local dwellers in Warje had started Grocery donation drive for our Hostels. Santosh took up the responsibility of collection on 10th of each month and transporting to our premises. He still continues doing this job over 15 years. He voluntarily assisted Women’s Self Help Groups in carrying out Bank transactions. Some years back Santosh landed up with a job in MSEB and donated part of his 1st salary to RSGS. An incident occurred when a Businessman received a fat Electricity bill due to an error. Santosh rectified the error and was offered a cash reward. He politely refused to accept the reward and requested the Businessman to donate that amount to RSGS.

6. Shekhar Mokhar

An orphan boy from ‘Botarwadi’ village enrolled in our Hostel & SVV. After Graduating and due to inherent interest in Farming he started mechanized farming in the Community and delivered favorable results in terms of increased & quality yields. He overcame resistance from local farmers and today he is often consulted by Agriculture Officers. Shekhar is employed by Suyash Charitable Trust as a Manager promoting Organic Farming in Tribal areas in different States.

7. Kailas Kokre

Born in a poor family in ‘Vegre’ village, Kailas lost his Right hand due to third degree burn when he was an infant. He stayed at our Hostel and studied in SVV. During Hostel days Kailas developed a flair for marathon and passion for writing poetry. While filling the SSC examination form he refused to mention that he belonged to handicap category. UWC Mahindra College picked him up and after grooming sent him to an American University to study Philosophy.

8. Anita Kokre & Nikita Kokre

Two sisters from extremely poor background living in a remote village ‘Vegre’ enrolled in our Girls Hostel and completed their schooling from 5th to 10th standard at SVV. During their stay at the Hostel both developed various skills and flair for education. Thanks to our Trustee Smt. Pournima Mehta who inculcated good values and focused on their upbringing so that they could fulfill their ambitions. After passing out SSC with good marks both secured admission for Nursing education in Mangalore. Their strong will power & ambition drove them to complete the 5 year Nursing course with flying colours in 2017. Nikita secured 1st position with 84% and Anita secured 3rd position with 78%. Now, both are pursuing specialization in respective fields
